🌿 Mopani Wood is a beautiful two-toned African hardwood that turns any freshwater aquarium or tropical terrarium into a gorgeous nature-scape.
🦎A smooth surface and textured detail adds an awesome natural touch to any environment. It's one of the favorites of our climbing critters here at Reptiles Lounge.
🐠 Have an aquatic setup? This extremely dense hardwood sinks immediately and won't rot like driftwood, making it the perfect option for your freshwater tank!
🌿 Each piece has a unique shape, crafted by mother nature herself, and has been sandblasted clean so it's ready for you to add to your aquarium or terrarium. Use with plants to create the "naturalistic" look.
Notes: 1. This wood may release tannins into the water, creating a yellow or slightly brown tint. The tannins are natural compounds, and should not harm fish in freshwater environments. If you'd like to minimize the tint, you may soak the wood before introducing it to your tank. 2. Each of these pieces is a unique natural element. Due to this measurements may vary slightly.
These are great pieces! Large, sturdy, great weight. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality for this price.
Sometimes can be too big for your application can be cut with a sawand you have two pieces
Great pieces of wood! My plecos love it. We got 2 pieces of medium sized and while they vary, one is perfect for our 39 gallon and the other works great in our 55 gallon tank. Which already has a previously ordered medium piece. I would think a large would be far too big for anything less than a 55 gallon. Boil wood to leach the tannins faster. It took about a day on medium high heat and a few water changes. Then soak with room temperature water until its a very pale tea color.
Didn’t look at all like the picture, but a straight piece. It will be okay I guess.
I love using Mopani in all my reptile, amphibian, and fish tanks. It always looks gorgeous and holds up well whether in water or not. The biggest gamble is the size and shape of the piece. I ordered a medium size for a 5-gallon vertical fish tank and the piece I got was PERFECT. Just make sure to soak/rinse before putting in a tank with water as the wood puts out tannins and will turn the water tea-colored. It won't hurt most fish/amphibians, but it can make the water look dark/cloudy.
What size should I get for an adult bearded dragon?
It depends on the size of your tank and the size of your beardie. Assuming it's a mature adult 18" or so and you have an 80 to 120 gallon tank, you could easily fit a large piece (16-18") in there :)
